Workshop
9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Speaker: Sue Carter Volunteers are often seen as nice but not necessary. It is difficult to build a volunteer program when an organization’s culture does not value the contributions volunteers make. This session will cover trends in service that are influencing the prospective volunteers who want to work with you and what you can do to align your program with their expectations. It will give you tools for building a volunteer-friendly culture. Topics include volunteer engagement verses volunteer management; volunteer matching and expectations; turning your organization needs into meaningful volunteer opportunities; generational and skilled volunteer needs; and ways to define volunteer value. About the Speaker:
Volunteer San Diego is the premier provider of volunteer programs and services in San Diego County. Annually, Volunteer San Diego helps fill 51,000 volunteer positions at 700 community organizations.
