Bolder Giving in Extraordinary Times
Presenters: Anne and Christopher Ellinger

In these extraordinary times of economic crisis and opportunity, many givers want to step forward more boldly.

Bolder Giving’s mission is to inspire and support people to give at their full potential. Anne and Christopher Ellinger have been helping donors do so, through role models and practical support, for nearly 20 years.

This session will provide development professionals at all levels of experience – entry, mid, advanced and senior – valuable tools and strategies that they can immediately incorporate into their donor stewardship and development plans. Development teams are encouraged to attend and learn together how to apply these tools and strategies.

Luncheon attendees will learn about:

  • Five keys to helping donors give boldly and enthusiastically
  • Cutting-edge developments in educating your donors about giving
  • Stewarding donors to help them determine how much is enough
  • Guiding donors to make their own strategic giving plan
  • Promoting cross-generational dialogue for greater giving

About the Presenters:

[ Anne and Christopher Ellinger ]Anne and Christopher Ellinger are founders and directors of Bolder Giving, located in Boston, MA..  The Ellingers are nationally-recognized writers, counselors, workshop presenters, and organizers on issues of wealth and philanthropy.  They have coached hundreds of individuals and led interactive sessions on wealth and philanthropy for dozens of organizations (see list below).

The Ellingers were plunged into the philanthropy world when Christopher received an unexpected inheritance at age 21. After ten years of exploring the resources available for people looking to connect their money and values, they decided to put this knowledge to use by helping other wealthy people maximize their positive impact.

In 1991, they founded More than Money, a nonprofit peer education network with over 2,000 participants nationwide. Through its publications, gatherings, and web resources, More Than Money helped people with significant financial resources to explore the impact of money in their lives and to act on their highest values.

In 2004, they launched the Zing Foundation to promote philanthropy and to build on their life-long interest in participatory arts for social change. Anne and Christopher also direct True Story Theater, an improvisational performance company that builds community by "playing back" the true life experiences told by members of the audience.

Anne and Christopher's writing includes the American Book Award-winning We Gave Away a Fortune, the guidebook “Welcome to Philanthropy,” published by the National Network of Grantmakers, and numerous articles in the quarterly More Than Money Journal (1993-2006).
