Joining AFP is simple. Whether you are new to fundraising or a seasoned veteran, membership in the San Diego Chapter is a great career move. Just go to the AFP International web site to learn more about AFP Membership and download an application.

Get Acquainted with the San Diego Chapter

Membership orientations are held at 11:00 a.m. each month before the chapter meetings.  We encourage all new and prospective members to attend these helpful and informative sessions to learn more about the AFP San Diego Chapter and the benefits of AFP membership. You may register for an upcoming orientation or request more information by sending an e-mail to office@afpsd.org with your name and phone or e-mail address.

We are always looking for volunteers to serve on the membership team.  The time commitment is minimal and there are exciting opportunities to help plan and organize the annual membership reception, serve as greeters for the monthly chapter luncheons, assist with strategies to provide excellent service to our existing members, and share the benefits of membership with prospective members throughout the fundraising community.

Incentive Program for Current Members

You can help the San Diego chapter membership grow by encouraging colleagues, board members, senior executives in your organization, and others to check out AFP. When you do, you’ll receive an incentive gift for sharing the opportunity.  Be sure to fill out a referral form and send it to aosian@ecscalifornia.org to get credit.

Guests Can Attend A Chapter Meeting For Member Fee

We are also making it easier for a member to bring a guest who is a prospective member by offering 20 guest seats for the member rate. Just fill out a guest request and send it to Alyssa Osian, aosian@ecscalifornia.org. If approved, we’ll contact you and make the arrangements. Priority will be given to senior level executives and organization board members who may be interested in joining AFP.

Membership Dues Increase

Dear AFP Member:

Despite a volatile economy, AFP has been able to provide relevant services and benefits to members and chapters.  In order to continue to develop and enhance benefits and services, as well as ensure adequate resources to meet future member needs, the AFP board of directors has unanimously approved a dues increase of $30 for members in the Active and Associate categories.

The change in membership dues, the first in four years, was discussed at length by the board and was considered only after significant feedback from chapters and members.

This change will bring total annual dues for those categories to $250, plus chapter dues, and will be effective April 1, 2009. No other categories of membership will be affected by the change.

AFP appreciates your involvement in the largest community of fundraisers in the world and everything you do to advance ethical and effective fundraising every day. Your membership strengthens the profession and AFP’s ability to represent and advocate for fundraising practitioners.

We look forward to working with you in the last quarter of 2008 and throughout 2009 to help your organization raise the funds it needs. AFP will be offering a number of exciting and innovative programs and services to help you reach your development goals.
