Foundations are People, Too
Cultivating Relationships with Foundation Representatives

"If you've seen one foundation, you've seen one foundation," is the tongue-in-cheek saying among grant seekers.  If this is the case, then we must cultivate foundation representatives much as we do individual donors.  This session will explore techniques for cultivating foundations and how to build partnerships that will both help organizations win funding for their programs and enable foundations to achieve their philanthropic goals.  We will examine funding from the foundation’s perspective and consider the grant seeker’s role as one of providing opportunities for foundations, rather than merely seeking money from them.

About The Presenter:

Gloria Pugliese, CFRE, is the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at La Salle University in Pennsylvania. She has raised funding for causes ranging from biomedical research to museum exhibitions to education and training. Gloria has experience seeking funding from foundations, corporations and government agencies as well as through individual donors. In addition to her experience in grant seeking, she has also worked in annual giving, prospect research, and event planning. Gloria is also a faculty member and trainer for the University of Phoenix Greater Philadelphia Campuses. She is an active member of AFP and serves on the Board of the AFP Greater Philadelphia Chapter.
