To earn your CFRE in 2009, take the following steps:

  • Apply for the CFRE Examination, through CFRE International at www.CFRE.org
  • For more information regarding applying for the CFRE examination, contact CFRE International at www.CFRE.org , or call Morgean Hirt, Executive Director or Peter Atherton, Certification Manager at 703.820.5555.
  • Apply in accordance with the "2009 CFRE Exam Schedule and Application Deadlines" for North America. All exams will be delivered via computer-based testing. No paper and pencil exams will be offered. For more information, please visit www.CFRE.org .
  • Enroll for the online CFRE Review Course at www.afpnet.org . You can take the course online or you can identify an AFP Chapter that is hosting the course in 2009. Call De’Shon Wellington at AFP IHQ at 800-666-FUND for information.

About the Course:

  • As a preconference offering before the annual Public Radio Development/Marketing Conference, DEI is pleased to partner with the Association of Fundraising Professionals to present the AFP CFRE Review Course, a complete overview of the development function for fundraising professionals who would like to improve their development skills, learn to raise money more efficiently, build upon their current development skills, or pursue professional certification.
  • The AFP CFRE Review Course is designed for fundraising professionals with 5 or more years of experience. This review of the body of knowledge at the five-year level is organized around the topic domains of the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) exam.
  • The modules in this two-day workshop include:

    Why Philanthropy? An Overview of Fundraising & Its Concepts
    Current & Prospective Donor Research
    Marketing and Communications for Fundraising & Development
    Developing a Comprehensive Solicitation Program
    Building and Sustaining Relationships
    Securing the Gift
    Volunteer Involvement
    Management 
    Accountability
  • The AFP CFRE Review Course is presented through lecture, case studies, and the encouragement of participant dialog. As required, all presenters are CFRE or ACFRE, and those noted above graduated from the AFP Faculty Training Academy...Master Teachers for AFP courses.
