NOMINATION PROCESS
The nomination process has two phases: 1) initial screening and 2) final selection. For the initial screening, simply complete and mail the form or submit the form online. If your nominee advances to the final phase, you will be contacted to provide additional information. The Honorary Committee, comprised of past award recipients, will make a final selection for each award from among the final phase nominees. Awards will be given in all categories providing a nominee has met the highest standards of achievement.

NOMINATION CATEGORIES AND DESCRIPTIONS

1. OUTSTANDING PHILANTHROPIST

This award is presented to an individual or family with a proven record of exceptional generosity who, through direct financial support, has demonstrated outstanding civic and charitable responsibility,  and whose generosity encourages others to take philanthropic leadership roles on a community level.

2. OUTSTANDING FUNDRAISING VOLUNTEER

The individual eligible for this nomination must have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills in coordinating groups of volunteers for major fundraising projects for one or more nonprofit organizations. The recipient should demonstrate a commitment to the advancement of philanthropy.

3. OUTSTANDING PHILANTHROPIC ORGANIZATION

To qualify for this award, a private foundation, civic organization, or grant-making service organization must demonstrate commitment through financial support and through encouragement and motivation of others to take leadership roles in philanthropy in the community.

4. OUTSTANDING YOUTH/STUDENT VOLUNTEER

This individual must be an outstanding youth (up to 18 years of age or senior  in high school) who has demonstrated skills in fundraising and exceptional  dedication and commitment to volunteer service (submission must be made  within two years of performance). By example, this individual has inspired others to support the activities of community organizations, thus enhancing the spirit and practice of philanthropy.

5. OUTSTANDING PHILANTHROPIC CORPORATION

To qualify for this award, a corporation, business, or employee-managed grant-making fund must have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to  philanthropy and community service through direct financial support and through encouragement and motivation of  others to take leadership roles toward philanthropy and community involvement.

6. OUTSTANDING ORGANIZATIONAL VOLUNTEER

This is an individual who has made a significant impact on the success of nonprofit organizations through his/her volunteer service and/or volunteer leadership.

7. OUTSTANDING CELEBRITY VOLUNTEER

This is an individual who uses his/her public profile and visibility to further one or more philanthropic causes in our community.

NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY DAYŽ 2008 NOMINATION RULES

  • Nomination packets were mailed April 11, 2008.

  • Nominations close Friday, May 23, 2008.

  • Late entries will not be accepted.

  • Incomplete forms will not be accepted (complete items A through C).

  • Multiple nominations are encouraged but just one submission per form.

  • Nominations can be submitted online.

  • Previous honorees are not eligible for consideration unless their nomination is for a category that is different from what they were honored for in the past.
