AFP San Diego Speaker Bio:
Bill Littlejohn has more than two decades of community philanthropy experience. Bill joined Sharp HealthCare in 2002 as Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Sharp HealthCare Foundation. He oversees the $20 million annual philanthropic program for Sharp, San Diego’s largest health care provider. During his tenure at Sharp, philanthropy revenues have more than doubled, the number donors has more than tripled and Sharp HealthCare Foundation recently completed a successful $50 million campaign, the largest philanthropic effort in Sharp’s history. During ten years of providing fundraising counsel leading up to the Sharp assignment, Bill supervised or directed more than 40 projects including capital and endowment campaigns, campaign planning and feasibility studies, development audits and major gift programs. In addition to his work at Sharp and other health care institutions in San Diego, Bill managed fund-raising projects for health care systems such as Sutter Health (Northern California), Memorial Health Services (Southern California), Providence Health System (Western US), Intermountain Health Care (Utah), Alegent Health (Nebraska and Iowa) and Hawaii Pacific Health. Bill also provided consultation to a number of community-based institutions, including the Girl Scouts, animal welfare, human service and educational and research organizations. Bill is a 1980 graduate of the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. From 1983 to 1992, he served as Director of Development for the American Cancer Society in Los Angeles and as Direct Marketing Director for the California division. Later, as Assistant Vice President, Bill managed fundraising, marketing, finance and fund-raising information systems for 15 offices in Southern California. Bill is a member of the Pacific Region cabinet of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and is a charter advisor to The Advisory Board Company’s Philanthropy Leadership Council. He has spoken and written extensively on all aspects of fund raising. |
