Get Acquainted with the San Diego Chapter

Membership orientations are held at 11:00 a.m. each month before the chapter meetings. We encourage all new and prospective members to attend these helpful and informative sessions to learn more about the San Diego Chapter and the benefits of AFP membership. You may register for an upcoming orientation or request more information by sending an e-mail to office@afpsd.org with your name and phone or e-mail address.

We are always looking for volunteers to serve on the membership team. The time commitment is minimal and there are exciting opportunities to help plan and organize the annual membership reception, serve as greeters for the monthly chapter luncheons, assist with strategies to provide excellent service to our existing members, and share the benefits of membership with prospective members throughout the fundraising community.

New! Membership Scholarship Program

If you’d like to become an AFP member but the cost has been holding you back, we can help. A limited number of scholarships are available to help offset the fees for membership, workshops, or chapter meetings. We’re looking for people who are:

New to the field (0 - 3 years or career transition); or
Ethnically or culturally underrepresented in the profession locally, and working for an organization with an annual budget under $1,000,000; or
Development team members at large institutions (hospital or university) where budget limitations restrict the number of memberships that can be funded

Applications will be accepted until all available scholarships have been awarded.

You can help the San Diego chapter membership grow by encouraging colleagues, board members, senior executives in your organization, and others to check out AFP. When you do, you’ll receive an incentive gift for sharing the opportunity. Be sure to fill out a referral form and send it to donna.pippins@servingseniors.org to get credit.

New! Guests Can Attend A Chapter Meeting For Member Fee

We are also making it easier for a member to bring a guest who is a prospective member by offering 20 guest seats for the member rate. Just fill out a guest request and send it to donna.pippins@servingseniors.org. If approved, we’ll contact you and make the arrangements. Priority will be given to senior level executives and organization board members who may be interested in joining AFP.
