AFP San Diego Ask - Anyone for Any Amount for Any Purpose! The “ask” is the most essential skill for any successful fundraiser. This session will address fears and psychological barriers so that participants will feel empowered to ask for money. Asking someone for money is a skill that requires talent and a serious commitment to the cause. There are specific tools and techniques that must be learned if one is to feel comfortable not only asking for money, but also being successful in asking for money. This session will provide participants with such training and will serve as a lasting reference guide for fundraisers, top administrators, board members, volunteers and anyone who wants to learn how to ask for a gift of any size with confidence and conviction. About the Presenter: Laura Fredricks, JD, is vice president for philanthropy at Pace University in New York, N.Y. She oversees all aspects of fundraising and alumni relations for a staff of 40 on five campuses, and is leading the university on a $100 million capital campaign and a centennial celebration in 2006.
